Festival Wedding Photography

Are you having a festival themed wedding day and want relaxed unposed documentary wedding photography to reflect the excitement of the day ? If so I would love to hear from you so please get in touch .

I really love being a wedding Photographer as I often get to shoot some of the more untraditional types of weddings and this was one of them. This fun festival themed wedding was a special one for me as Sarah and Pete are close friends of mine that I have known for over 15 years. This was also a joint 40th birthday bash for Pete so there was so much to celebrate.

This wedding was vibrant and relaxed; perfect for my candid approach to wedding photography that Sarah and Pete were after for their non-traditional wedding day.

Sarah and Pete hired the fabulous With Honor Events to help set up a huge Marquee from the Great Event Company lawn games, axe throwing from Bush Adventures UK and food and drinks vans from Fat Teds Street food. This was all surrounded by woodland trees which is perfect for a festival vibe wedding day.

This wedding was a bit more remote so they also had some glamping tents set up from Norfolk Bell Tent Hire and The little beach bell tent company for everyone to stay over which I absolutely loved as it was probably the latest I have ever stayed up taking photos at a wedding meaning I could crawl into my tent at the end of the night.

Sarah and Pete had a private ceremony with just their family with no friends or photography present. I loved this as it made it more about their private moment over anything else.

The couple arrived and jumped straight into the enormous confetti tunnel I had prepped ready for their grand entrance. It was such a colourful experience with Sarah’s gorgeous flowers from Sassys Florist in norfolk in full view and a great way to kick off the celebrations.

This really is the best place for documentary wedding photography and genuine unposed moments as there was so much on offer to capture. I loved all the board games, the axe throwing, the darts, hacky sack and bean bag games through out the day. There was even a rowing boat for people to sit in and drink champagne from.

This wedding was so much fun to tell the story of their day through unfolding of events, the energy of the celebration and the mingling of guests. It was such a unique experience to capture.

Following the fun and games it was time for the speeches. Pete jumped up on a pile of wooden palettes to do his first and didn't he do well. I didn't know he had such a heartfelt speech in him but there wasn't a dry eye in the crowd. Nell their oldest daughter even did a speech which brought quite a few extra tears in this already emotional audience. The two best men followed and absolutely smashed their speech, even if there were a few too many awkward smiles. Dinner time was called shortly after with Sarah and Pete serving up the most incredible help yourself grazing table from little pie patisserie. Before they were suitably full I took the gorgeous couple and their two children Nell and Margot for a quick walk into the wood for some family photos.

Sarah and Pete didn’t want anything too formal and just wanted to capture a few nice shots together and with their kids which suited me perfectly. The light was great and the weather held up for some really fun unposed photographs.

More fun and games ensued and trucks arrived from Luca Pizza. It was time for the party. WHAT A PARTY IT WAS!  The DJ for the night was Olive the ambulance who is a portable old school ambulance that was with us all day providing banging tunes for about 14 hours in total. The music did not stop and he even had the patience of a saint when my wife was trying to take over and play some music. He obliged and thankfully the tunes she selected worked out.

I partied with them until 3am and we were the last on the dance floor which is no mean feat when you’re not really drinking and trying to remain focused to capture everything going on.

I had SO much fun at this wedding and it will live long in the memory. Thanks for having me Sarah and Pete. I hope you enjoy the photos.
