Hackney Town Hall Wedding Photography

Are you getting married at the Hackney Town Hall and want relaxed unposed documentary wedding photography in a very natural style? If so I would love to hear from you so please get in touch .

When I first chatted to Lauren and Joseph about their wedding plans I was really excited. They were looking for documentary wedding photography for their two part wedding starting in East London at the Hackney Town Hall followed by an EPIC party back in their home town of Huddersfield a couple of weeks later.  That needs a separate blog post of its own though to cover properly.

I love weddings in London and in particular at the town hall venues and the one in Hackney is up there as one of my favourites as I used to live just around the corner.

Hackney Town Hall in situated in the heart of Hackney, London and Is a historic and elegant venue popular for weddings and civil partnership ceremonies. The Town hall is a perfect venue for ceremonies of all sizes as it has a variety of versatile space for couples to exchange vows and celebrate their special day.

Hackney Town Hall is one of London’s finest examples of civic art deco architecture. Originally designed by Lanchester & Lodge and opened in 1937, today the Grade II Listed building is still a focus of community life in Hackney.

This working town hall, now in its 82nd year, houses the original Assembly Hall which conveniently offers its own private entrance with two beautiful curved staircases leading guests to the elegant event space. After a recent improvement works the original 1930s building has been brought into the 21st century and now features two state of the art glass roofed atrium, giving you the sense being outside no matter the weather. The original wood panelled Council Chamber and Committee Rooms with their imposing grandiose chandeliers are the perfect setting for stand alone ceremonies

Lauren and Joseph had their ceremony in the one of the committee rooms which are perfect for a more intimate wedding with just your nearest and dearest.

The Hackney Town hall boasts so much stunning architecture providing a gorgeous backdrop for your wedding day photography.

Before we talk about anything else though we need to take a moment to appreciate Laurens outfit. SHE LOOKED INCREDDIBLE in her Art Dealer Journal two piece skirt and jacket set with feather sleeves paired with her gorgeous Shrimps handbag rented from Hurr designer rental platform available at Selfridges.  Lauren completed her look with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers from Pentalon flowers.

Lets not forget Joseph who fixed up very sharp as well in his Massimo Dutti suit. Together they looked gorgeous for their day and their wedding photography.

Post the ceremony we had the most incredible confetti throw outside the town hall on the steps and these photos remain some of my favourite to this day. The confetti is by Proper Confetti and is super colourful and good for the planet being biodegradable.

The town hall is perfect for taking some natural relaxed photos of couples and their guests with so many great spots outside as you can see in this gallery. The huge palm trees, the gorgeously symmetrical doors around the corner, those steps as mentioned and of course the general streets of Hackney if you want something a bit more rugged and alternative.

After the portraits and some celebratory champagne with their friends and family we hopped into a black cab in soho where we had a few drinks at the famous French House Soho Pub in central London. This was again another great spot to capture some really lovely natural photography of this wedding Party.

A few pints down and we were off up the street for the family dinner at Quo Vadies Soho Restaurant capturing some great shots walking the streets of soho with all the hustle and bustle going on around us. If you have yet to go to Quo Vadis for food get on it asap. This place is amazing, not just for the food but the décor if you’re an interior and art fan is superb.

Lauren and Joseph thanks so much for having me as your photographer. I loved documenting both your days, hanging out with you two and meeting all your family. I hope you enjoy the images.
