Where do I start with this one? Debbie and Beno are two of the most amazing, easy-going people I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet. From the family church ceremony (with Beno’s dad as the vicar) to their reception at Eastfield Farm Barns, the whole day was so beautifully, hilariously, and spectacularly ‘them’.
On top of having a brilliant time with Debbie, Beno, and their guests, I also won my first story award from This is Reportage for a selection of images from Debbie and Beno’s day. It was an unforgettable day for so many reasons – winning an award was the icing on the cake!
It doesn’t get much more personal than having the father of the groom conduct the ceremony in the church where the bride’s parents got married. The celebrations started with a chaotic mixture of confetti and bubbles whipping across the churchyard in the wind to welcome Debbie and Beno to married life. Debbie’s veil had a mind of its own and kept dramatically disappearing into the sky, much to everyone’s amusement!
We hopped onto their red vintage wedding bus and headed off to Eastfield Farm Barns for their wedding reception. The bubbles appeared again as they walked down the long driveway to the venue (I’ve never seen a vicar have so much fun with a bubble machine!).
Beno planned a surprise dog show to start the reception, which Debbie couldn’t contain her excitement about. The tone for the day was well and truly set by the furry little legends jumping on, over, and running under Debbie’s dress. An excellent booking by Beno!
Eastfield’s rustic Georgian brick barn was filled with cheers and waving napkins as Debbie and Beno walked amongst the tables to get to their seats. The speeches were a riot – with plenty of references to Beno’s current role in the Blue Man Group (check out the website, it’s creative MADNESS and I love it!).
After an impressive first dance, everyone crowded around to join them – this is where things got wild! There were props, costumes, guests swapping clothes, and even an epic dance off instigated by their band, The Ways. Oh, and MORE BUBBLES! When a bunch of amazing, theatrical, creative people get together, they really know how to party!
Debbie and Beno wanted me to capture all their favourite people having fun and partying on their wedding day, and it was a real joy to be part of. The fact that Eastfield Barns is just around the corner from my house was a bonus – but let’s face it, I would probably travel across the world for this amazing bunch of people.
If you’re looking for an Eastfield Barns wedding photographer, get in touch – dog shows, dance-offs, and painting yourself blue are optional!
