This lovely micro wedding at Shuttleworth House in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire was an absolute joy to photograph back in January 2025. Fun, colourful, relaxed, full of great light — and honestly, I’d shoot weddings here every week if I could.
I’m Ben Lee Photography, a local Hertfordshire wedding photographer, and this was part one of Áine and Amal’s celebrations. Part two is coming in July 2026 at the Savoy cinema in Manchester, which I genuinely cannot wait for and I already know is going to be incredible. Thankfully, they loved the photos from round one and booked me again — always a good sign 😄
But this day?
This one was all about Shuttleworth House. Short and sweet but packed full of so much golden gorgeousness.

The day started at Cambridge Central Mosque for an intimate Nikah ceremony, with a small group of close family and best friends. Calm, emotional, and really personal — exactly my kind of vibe and a great way to start the day.
Most of the images you see in this blog are actually from just a couple of hours at Shuttleworth House, as the morning was spent at the mosque. Considering it was January, you’d expect freezing winds, grey skies, and numb fingers… but nope. We were treated to the most golden winter light all day, which made both locations absolutely glow.
Perfect for my shooting style:
mostly documentary with a bit of fashion-leaning, unposed couple photography mixed in. Heres a few snaps taken at the Mosque.

After the ceremony, everyone made their way by car and cab to Shuttleworth House in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire — part of the Shuttleworth Trust.
I was over the moon to get a booking here because ive been quite a few times for various events and always though how lovely it was but also because it’s so close to home. Like… a five-minute walk across a couple of fields close. I could almost wave to my wife (not really, but you get the idea).

Shuttleworth House works brilliantly for smaller weddings. There’s space to breathe, quiet corners for couple photos, and a calm atmosphere that really suits relaxed celebrations.
Aside from how good it looks on camera, Shuttleworth House is one of those venues that just works.
Here’s why I love photographing weddings here:

We arrived a little later than planned, so we moved fast (but chill). We grabbed a few relaxed couple photos outside the front of the house — literally just a couple of minutes — then jumped into one of the cars for a quick wander around the airplane hangars.
Vintage planes. Vintage cars. Massive hangars.
Shuttleworth House grounds is such an absolutely unique spot for wedding photos.
Nothing forced, no awkward posing — just walking, talking, and letting moments happen naturally. Documentary heaven.
After 5–10 minutes there, we headed back to meet the rest of the family and guests who had arrived for the evening celebrations.

We managed a quick confetti shot outside the house, and the light on it was just gorgeous. It worked perfectly with my colourful editing style and honestly couldn’t have been better timed.
We then took some relaxed family photos out front before heading inside for their entrance into dinner.
The team at Shuttleworth House had the room looking incredible. The Grand Gallery was set up for a buffet-style dinner, surrounded by huge historic artworks, with golden light pouring in across the tables.
Once everyone started eating, that was my cue to quietly head off — because no one needs photos of themselves mid-mouthful.

Even though this was a short booking, it was such a joy to photograph. Áine and Amal were a dream, the locations were beautiful, and Shuttleworth House is hands down one of my favourite nearby venues.
If you’re planning:
