Some weddings have a good vibe. Charlotte and Jacob’s had ALL the vibes. It was classy, funny, emotional and absolutely packed with their favourite people.

The day kicked off at Larkspur Lodge in Knutsford, hanging out with Jacob and his mates over a few beers and a whiskey or two. Very casual, lots of laughs. Then I headed to an Airbnb to spend an hour with Charlotte and the bridesmaids before making my way back to the venue.
Right from the start it was really clear that this was going to be a fun day, everyone was super chilled and up for celebrating.

Larkspur’s a cool venue, Charlotte and Jacob loved the moody glow of the candles, fairy lights and chandelier, so I shot the whole thing in ambient light to keep that atmosphere, with the warm, gorgeous light they had on the day.

The weather held out (in Cheshire!), and the ice cream truck was a brilliant touch. There was playful chaos, including one kid who managed to get ice cream all over his blazer. Iconic.

While their friends and family found their seats, we took a short wander in the sunshine to capture relaxed photos of Charlotte and Jacob as a couple. It’s a nice opportunity to pause and have five minutes together to chat, enjoy a full glass of fizz, and have the ‘wait, we just got married!’ moment together!

Then came the entrance: Charlotte and Jacob burst in to their reception to Fatboy Slim and went up and down the long tables while everyone went WILD. I was in the thick of it and got pelted with napkins. No regrets.

Catching laughs, hugs, and all the reactions to the speeches was loads of fun. The speeches were great and so full of love and the whole room were raising their glasses and getting to their feet to applaud!

For portraits, we kept things quick, natural and painless. We nipped into the ceremony room for some couple shots and portraits with the bride squad. Then, at Charlotte’s request, we went for a bold, editorial look with direct flash, which is a nod to my fashion background and SO much fun to shoot.

Now, I’ve photographed a lot of weddings, but this was a first for me. Later on, one of their friends hosted Bongo’s Bingo, rocking a disco ball hat and hosting like an absolute pro. It was hilarious.

The prizes came out of a bucket of gloriously rubbish treasures: an H from Steps action figure, a cardboard cut-out of Susie Dent and a Smash Hits CD. Total chaos, and genuinely one of the most fun things I’ve ever had to keep up with. Trust me, documenting this many people laughing their heads off at once is a workout!

To finish, the party spilled outside, with pizzas and a dance floor that didn’t let up. I love the chaos this kind of wedding brings, and it was packed full of love from all their favourite people.

This is exactly why I love what I do, photographing awesome weddings in my signature style that captures all the energy and mischief, with a few editorial-inspired portraits sprinkled in too. If that’s your vibe too, whether you’re planning a Hackney Town Hall wedding, a cool gathering with your mates at The Libertine, or maybe something further afield like this ski wedding or a long weekend wedding in Tangier, Morrocco get in touch, I’d love to join the party!
